LUCKNOW:
Within hours of TOI reporting that the prestigious Loreto Convent School here
had organised an occult session which left a number of students unconscious,
chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday ordered an inquiry into the issue.
Lucknow DM Ramendra Tripathi
will conduct the probe and submit a report within three days. Other members of
the probe team are ADM (city), ACM-1 and district inspector of schools. The
probe took off with DIOS Vikas Srivastava recording statements of people
associated with the session held on September
6.
On Sunday evening,
protesting against the occult session, activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha
(BJYM) stormed the campus on Sunday evening. With no security to stop them, the
protesters ransacked the school
premises.
Following the
incident, secretary of Association of Catholic Educational Institutions (UP),
Father Paul Rodrigues, announced closure of all member schools in Lucknow on
Monday. Special security arrangements were also put in place outside the school
and other Catholic
institutions.
Later, addressing
mediapersons, school's community leader Sister Tressia said their intention was
the "spiritual and emotional development of children. It was a prayer
experience".
She added that
"they just wanted their students to experience the power of God as the spiritual
development would help children".
